I work as a Graphic Designer at the Ocean Agency downtown Chicago, and we had the honor of being interviewed by Tim Jahn (@timjahn) of Beyond The Pedway (www.beyondthepedway.com).
This past weekend I had the pleasure of flying out to the East Coast for the first time! Me and M’Lady, Courtney, went to New Jersey to see her family and enjoy some time out there. The first night we got there, Courtney, her sister, Megan, Megan’s Kiwi bf, Jason, and I took the train into Manhattan and went to a true New Zealand bar and grill called Nelson Blue (http://www.nelsonblue.com/).
I was happy to see some of the true-kiwi eats that I would have never known of otherwise. Seafood, seafood, and more seafood. Kiwis LOVE seafood and they want it fresh. As much as I like fish, I decided to go with a more common dish that is prepared kiwi-style. I got the Burger, New Zealand Style, with Bacon. This means a big beef patty, awesome crunchy bacon, pickeled beets and carrots, and an EGG, sunny-side up. Booya. I haven’t thought about putting an egg on a burger, but it was pure gold. Buttery. Delicious. Wonderful. I enjoyed it completely.
If you get the chance to go to New Zealand, hang out with a Kiwi (New Zealander), or go to a New Zealand-style restaurant, definitely take it, because the people are cool, the food is good, and the place is crazy.
On the negative side, their website is in desperate need of a redesign, so if you know the owners… send them my way.
I’m totally stoked to announce and enjoy the recent release of Semnat Studios’ Eduardo the Samurai Toaster
I have seen the development of this fun run ‘n gun game for a couple years now and it is really exciting to see it released. My good friend, Ian Bowie, did the game animation and some of the level design. Since I did some testing of it in the early stages, you can see my name, Nick Wichman, in the ending credits! How sweet is that?
If you have ever played run ‘n gun games like Contra, then this is the game for you. Its a 4-player drop-in type of game that takes you, either Eduardo or one of his samurai colleagues, through a series of epic battles fighting ‘toaster pastries,’ mangos, BEES, and robot…things. You are guaranteed to have a super-awesome time shooting toast and power-up weapons at these enemies and throwing… yeah, THROWING your teammates around the screen.
I am purchasing a Wii solely for this game. I played it last night at my band-mate’s (Trey’s) house and I am sold. If you have a Wii, go on and get this indie-game for ONLY 800 POINTS!
